Could a Morning Meditation Mean More Money In the Bank?

In these trying economic times, we could all use a little help relaxing and rejuvenating our spirits. But the reality is not everyone can afford pricey sessions of yoga, meditation or hypnosis to help us get a grip! We figured if hypnosis can help people stop smoking, surely it could help them to stop spending! But with sessions running around $100 an hour, it isn’t in many of our budgets these days… Our burning question: how can we start 2009 off with a dose of self-empowerment without putting ourselves further into debt??
Luckily for us, Certified Hypnotherapist Jackie Hession has given us tips on how to add a little FREE self-hypnosis practice to our morning routine! Before you conjure up images of bad magic tricks in your head, you should realize that hypnosis is a method of relaxation that helps focus your intentions and transform your outlook, not to mention changing unwanted habits and behaviors.
Here’s how it works…Your brain is the computer that runs your body so when you program a mantra or message into your subconscious, over time it will transform from a conscious thought to an actual change in your thought process and your behavior. Your conscious mind deals with the outside world, and even if you desperately want to change a behavior, this part of your brain wants things to stay the same. It is the subconscious where all permanent change takes place. Hypnosis relaxes the conscious mind and allows the subconscious to open up and accept positive suggestion. The messages/mantras you practice during hypnosis will eventually be absorbed into the conscious mind and will become a new behavior pattern. Jackie promises that if you practice this routine everyday for one month, you will definitely see positive changes in yourself!

Here are a few simple tips to start your morning (or evening) off with meaning!
1. Clearly print your intention or desired goal on a piece of paper.
2. Locate a quiet spot where you feel safe, comfortable and know that you will not be interrupted. Turn off all phones!
3. Sit comfortably with your head supported.
4. Take out the piece of paper with your goal written on it.
5. Read your goal over, focusing all of your attention on its meaning for you.
6. Place the paper in your lap.
7. Take a deep breath, roll your eyes up toward the ceiling and close your eyes.
8. See the goal floating before your eyes for a moment, words clearly visible.
9. Now, forget about the paper and begin counting backwards from 20, slowly, with the word “RELAX” between each number. If your mind wanders, gently bring it back to counting. In time, it will wander less.
10. When you reach Zero, open your eyes, pick up the paper in your lap and read its message. Close your eyes and allow the message to flow through your mind for a few moments, implanting itself firmly in your subconscious.
11. In a few moments, your eyes will open naturally (unless you are so relaxed you fall asleep!). Remain seated, breathing normally. Do not jump up as you may become dizzy after being so relaxed. When ready, stand and go about your day – with a reinforced sense of empowerment. Done on a daily basis, this technique becomes progressively more effective.
