How to Really Save Group Shopping

Use what you buy!

All group shopping sites offer a super fun way to discover new businesses in your area while scoring awesome deals.  If used the right way, they can be totally Fab & Fru!  However, just because an offer looks enticing, doesn’t mean you should actually buy it!  Many people purchase a deal from these sites and then never redeem it.  Remember – a deal is only a deal if you save on something you were going to buy anyway – and you actually USE it!

I spoke to some fellow frugal bloggers about Groupon they were crazy for it. The only thing I ask is aren’t you tempted to buy/use Groupons on stuff you may not regularly buy because you’re getting a deal like those Entertainment books? I bought one of those Entertainment books once, ready to save money on all these things and help out a charity. I ended up buying a bunch of stuff I normally wouldn’t just because we had an Entertainment book coupon. I would have saved more money if i didn’t buy the book in the first place.

In that case, isn’t it costing you money rather than saving you money?

Yes! Groupon is a fun way to discover a deal, but remember – a deal is only a deal if you save on something you were going to buy anyway – and you actually USE it!

Any Thoughts?
