Chick-Fil-A…Cha-Ching?!

We lost our appetites over Chick-Fil-A posting its best one day sales ever on Aug 1st.  This was of course Mike Huckabee ordained “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day” – showing support for President Dan Cathy’s condemnation of same sex marriage. Voting with your wallet is a powerful tool: Fab & Fru supports gay marriage and equal rights – and we will not be spending money at Chick-Fil-A anytime soon…

McAthletes?

It was a big week for fast food chains making headlines.  Many people are voicing their outrage over McDonald’s being the “official restaurant” of the Olympics – but like most things, it all comes down to money. Worldwide sponsors like Mickey D’s pay approximately $100 million for exclusive sponsorship rights to the Olympics.  Though it does seem sort of like a Saturday Night Live sketch to see images of the health concious Olympic athletes followed by commericals for the golden arches…

Paying Their Dues…

The IRS is keeping a close eye on our Olympic Athletes – and some lawmakers aren’t happy about it.  Senator Marco Rubio is trying to get a law passed to make both the medals and Olympic winning money tax free for our athletes.  Apparently in addition to the value of the metal in the medals, the Olympians are also taxed on the cash rewards ($25k for gold, $15k for silver and $10k for bronze) given to the winners by the U.S. Olympic Committee…
